Lago Trasimeno, Isola Maggiore: luogo dove, nel 1211 approdò San Francesco per uno dei suoi ritiri quaresimali.
Otto secoli dopo Marcello Ezechiele Ciai, un uomo della terra di Assisi che al Trasimeno aveva avuto una soprannaturale visione, si dette a ritiri quaresimali di penitenza, preghiera e digiuno, per amore della Chiesa e di un mondo sempre più dilaniato da tanti mali e calamità. Da mesi il suo discepolo Massimo Coppo sta notte e giorno ad Assisi e presso la Basilica di San Francesco, col sacco e scalzo in penitenza per continuare a vivere e far rivivere in tanti il senso salvifico della penitenza cristiana.

Lake Trasimeno, Isola Maggiore: the place where Saint Francis landed, in 1211, for one of his lenten retreats. Eight centuries later, Marcello Ezekiel Ciai, a man of the land of Assisi who at the Trasimeno lake had a supernatural vision, gave himself to lenten retreats of penance, prayer and fasting for the love of the Church and a world increasingly torn by so many evils and disasters. Since several months his disciple, Massimo Coppo; night and day stays in Assisi and near the Basilica of Saint Francis, in sackcloth and barefoot in penance, to keep on living and many others relive the redeeming sense of christian penance.

Lo afferma il Presidente della Repubblica Giorgio Napolitano intervenendo a Torino al Teatro Regio alle celebrazioni per i 150 anni dell'unita' d'Italia.

This was stated by the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, speaking in Turin at the Royal Theatre at the celebrations for the 150 years of Italy's unity.

ROMA -- Il Presidente Napolitano a un giornalista cileno che gli chiede se è dispiaciuto per il fatto che l'Italia in questi ultimi tempi sia presente sulla stampa internazionale soprattutto per il caso Ruby e per le vicende giudiziarie del capo del governo Silvio Berlusconi, risponde: «Naturalmente, non posso dire agli organi di informazione di tutto il mondo quali notizie dovrebbero dare sull'Italia: c'è libertà di informazione e ciascuno si regola come crede, quello che io posso sottolineare è la necessità che venga prospettata la realtà del nostro Paese nei suoi sviluppi, nelle sue evoluzioni, nelle sue problematicità ma anche nelle prove che quotidianamente supera».
